Unsiloed AI vs AWS Textract
AWS Textract gives you OCR primitives. Unsiloed gives you the structured output that comes after them. It returns typed JSON from your own schema with a confidence score on every field, accepts Office files directly, and runs on-premise or air-gapped. Textract does none of those three. On olmOCR-Bench it scores 88.0 to Textract's 40.2.
Book a demoWhere Unsiloed makes the difference
Unsiloed returns the structured object your pipeline expects, from a schema you define. AWS Textract returns a flat graph of Block objects your code has to traverse and rebuild before anything can use it.

Extraction
Send one JSON schema with the document; get typed values back
No JSON-schema extraction. Queries takes natural-language questions, capped at 15 per page, English only
Hierarchical chunks and typed JSON, ready to use
A flat Block graph linked by relationship IDs that your code traverses and reshapes
Formats & operations
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDFs, images, and scans, directly
PDF and images only; Office files need a conversion step first
Upload a multi-page document directly, processed as one job
Synchronous calls take one page; multi-page means S3 upload, an async job, a completion notification, then paginated results
General-purpose APIs for any document type
Only inside AnalyzeLending, for mortgage workflows
Enterprise & compliance
Cloud, VPC, on-premise, or fully air-gapped
AWS-managed regions only; PrivateLink keeps traffic on AWS, but documents stay AWS-processed
$0.010 to $0.012 per page, one rate with no feature add-ons
About $0.07 per page for forms, tables, and queries together, each billed as a separate feature
Prove it on the document that broke your last pipeline
Bring a file your current tool mangles: a merged-cell table, a scanned filing, a mixed packet. Run it through Unsiloed and see typed, cited output in minutes.
Book a demoStructured output, not a toolkit to assemble
Extraction from your schema
Define a custom JSON schema and send the document. The result comes back typed, with a confidence score on every field and bounding-box citations when you need them. No Block graph to reassemble.
One API, four operations
Parse, extract, classify, and split share a single composable surface. No stitching together DetectDocumentText, AnalyzeDocument, and specialized APIs to keep a pipeline consistent.
Runs where your data lives
Unsiloed deploys to cloud, VPC, on-premise, or air-gapped. Textract runs only in AWS regions, so for strict data-residency rules the deployment boundary decides it before accuracy or price.
Where the differences actually show up
- Extraction
A schema, not a batch of questions
With Unsiloed you submit one custom JSON schema and get back an object shaped by it, with a confidence score per field and optional bounding-box citations. Textract has no JSON-schema extraction. Its Queries feature caps you at 15 questions per page synchronously, 30 asynchronously, in English only, so a 40-field page has to be split across at least three synchronous requests or two asynchronous jobs, then mapped back together in code.
- Output
Typed JSON, not a Block graph
Textract returns a flat array of Block objects, words, lines, key-value sets, table cells, whose structure lives in relationship IDs. Reconstructing a table or preparing RAG chunks means traversing that graph in your application. Unsiloed returns hierarchical, structure-aware chunks with reading order preserved, ready for an LLM, vector store, or workflow.
- Formats
Office files, directly
Textract accepts JPEG, PNG, PDF, and TIFF. It does not process DOCX, XLSX, or PPTX, so any pipeline receiving Office files needs a conversion step first. Unsiloed takes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDFs, images, and scans on the same surface.
- Setup
Direct upload vs an async S3 job
Textract's synchronous operations take one page at a time, so multi-page PDFs and TIFFs use the async flow: upload to S3, start a job, wait for completion (AWS recommends an SNS notification over polling, which it throttles), then retrieve and paginate the results. Unsiloed accepts a multi-page document through a direct upload and processes it as one job, with no S3 bucket or notification topic to set up.
- Deployment
AWS-only vs air-gapped
Textract runs only as a managed AWS service in supported regions, including GovCloud. PrivateLink keeps API traffic on the AWS network, but the documents are still processed by an AWS-operated service. There is no on-premise or air-gapped Textract. Unsiloed runs in cloud, VPC, on-premise, or fully air-gapped environments.
- Pricing
About a sixth of the price per page
Unsiloed is $250/mo for up to 20,000 pages ($0.012/page overage) and $750/mo for up to 75,000 ($0.010/page). Textract prices each feature separately: in US West (Oregon), forms, tables, and queries together run $70 per 1,000 pages at the first tier, roughly $0.07 a page, close to six times Unsiloed’s Standard rate. Custom Queries adapters, which you train in the AWS console, add $0.025 a page. Confirm current AWS rates before budgeting.

olmOCR-Bench overall accuracy. Unsiloed Parser ranks #1; AWS Textract scores 40.2. A 47.8-point gap on a public, rerunnable benchmark.
Document intelligence, not just OCR
Unsiloed is built for teams whose document output is the input layer for an AI or automation system.
Unsiloed is built for
Teams whose document output has to feed LLMs, agents, RAG, or workflows without a custom reassembly layer.
- You need schema-shaped JSON from a custom extraction schema
- You want a confidence score on every field, with citations back to the page
- You process Office files, PDFs, scans, and mixed batches
- You need general-purpose classification and splitting
- You require cloud, VPC, on-premise, or air-gapped deployment
Mortgage servicing documents are extremely complex, but Unsiloed was the only system that parsed them with high accuracy. Confidence scoring and flagging reduced hours of manual review for our team.

- Textract is built for OCR primitives; Unsiloed reads documents vision-first and returns structured output. On olmOCR-Bench, a vendor-run open harness, Unsiloed ranks #1 at 88.0 while AWS Textract scores 40.2 on the same run. Since parser output feeds everything downstream, that gap sets the ceiling on your pipeline.
